Bangle & bracelet size guide

Wrist pieces come two ways at OAK & ASH. Bangles are rigid and slide over the hand, so they come in two sizes. Chain bracelets fasten with a clasp, so they're chosen by length. Each product page lists its exact measurement. Every figure below is given in both centimetres and inches.

Bangles

Two sizes, S and L. The measurement on each product page is the inner diameter — the opening the bangle has to clear to get onto your hand.

Hand measurement decides the size, not wrist. A rigid bangle has to pass the widest part of your hand before it can sit on the wrist — if your hand measures more than the inner circumference, it won't go on, however well it would fit once there. Wrist is only a rough cross-check.

Measuring for a bangle

Tuck your thumb in towards your little finger, as if slipping on a bangle.
Wrap a tape measure around the widest part of the hand, over the knuckles.
Compare that number to the "fits hand up to" column.

Measuring for a bracelet

Wrap a tape measure or strip of paper around the wrist, just below the wrist bone.
Pull it snug against the skin without compressing it.
Read that number against the bracelet table below.

Chain bracelets

Chain styles are sold by length, listed in centimetres on each product page. Use your wrist measurement to work out which length gives the fit you want.

A close fit sits against the skin and barely moves. Comfort fit is the usual choice — it slides an inch or so along the wrist. A relaxed drape hangs loose and suits heavier chain and charm styles. Chunkier links take up more room on the wrist, so with a wide or heavy chain, go a size up from what the table suggests.

Before you measure

Measure the wrist you'll actually wear it on. The dominant side is usually slightly larger.
Measure at the end of the day, when hands and wrists are at their largest.
If you stack, allow a little more room. Several pieces sitting together wear tighter than one alone.
A bangle that clears the hand easily will also spin on the wrist. That's normal for a rigid piece, not a sign it's too big.
